🌙 I Finished A Court of Splintered Harmony: My Initial (Very Spoilery) Thoughts 🖤

I finished it. I am so happy to be back in this world, and I have THOUGHTS. Here they are, fresh, unfiltered, and very much still processing.

📖 First: It's Part 1, and I Had to Keep Reminding Myself of That

I shrieked when the prelude was Azriel's backstory with his shadows. SHRIEKED. What a way to walk back into this world.

But I did have to keep reminding myself, the whole way through, that this is PART 1 of a bigger book. With the first act of any book there's going to be a lot of setup, or in our case, breakdown of relationships.

And honestly, it was just tough to get through a few of the POVs before the action picked up about 70% in. Once it picked up, it PICKED UP.

🖤 Azriel and Gwyn: Gwyn Deserved More, and Az, Time and Place!

Gwyn: I was so disappointed in how little Gwyn content we got! After everything she went through, I wanted so much more of her on the page.

Azriel: Azriel spent the whole book drooling over Elain shamelessly, and I mean SHAMELESSLY. Like, time and place, buddy!! Again, I'm reminding myself that this is just the beginning of his story and his love story arc, so obviously we won't get THAT much yet. But still.

The fact that his shadows run away from Elain, though? That is very telling to me.

👑 Nesta, My Queen, and Cassian, I Want a Refund

Nesta: Okay. Nesta! My queen. I loved reading her POVs, and justice for my queen, who is getting so much flack for doing the right thing. I will defend her forever.

Cassian: HUGE L for Cassian for most, if not all, of this book. He was acting like an immature boy!! What do you mean he ignored her for weeks? Didn't come home? And didn't check on her when she was hurt? Who is this man!? I want a refund.

That one hurt to read, because I love them. But I need him to do better, and I need book 7 to show me that.

🍼 Feyre as a Mom Broke Me (In a Good Way)

Another highlight: seeing Feyre as a mom. Wow, is it nice to see a character we love grow into motherhood and actually see that on the page, in a world that is so loved. So many little details and so much representation, and I loved every bit of it.

And I can't wait to see how being a mom changes Feyre, or makes her grow into a new part of her character.

Family bonds: I'm also so happy to see Feyre and Nesta's relationship blossoming more. And I love the (hopefully continuing) brother-sister relationship between Az and Nesta. There is such a special relationship there and I want that explored much, much more.

🌸 Elain's Journey Is About to Begin

Elain's journey is about to begin?? With her going to Vallahan with Mor, I think we will finally see a different side of her, and we will get her story arc away from the inner circle. It makes sense. She needed to get away and come into her own power.

Hot take: Also, is it just me, or are we shipping Mor and Elain?? Might be a crazy take, but my brain definitely went there. Tell me I'm not alone in this.

📝 What I Need From Book 7

So here's my wishlist, and I am not quiet about it:

• 🦇The bat boy brotherhood needs to be repaired.
• 💔Gwyn and Az need to help each other heal, and to not only see the monster in themselves.
• 🌸Elain needs to find herself.
• 👑Nesta needs to get out of the prison and find Gwydion!

And Amren is still sussss telling Nesta to go into the prison?? I don't know. I don't know!!!

💫 The Part 1 of It All

So that's where I landed: part 1 did its job. It set the board, it broke some things down, and it left me feral for book 7. I have complaints, I have theories, and I have a list of characters I need to see get what they deserve. January cannot come fast enough.
